Live Event Painting

Turning a Moment Into an Heirloom

Weddings, celebrations of all kinds, and corporate events

Today’s couples are looking for that breath of luxe fresh air and an opportunity to showcase their love-story. Families wanted to celebrate bar and bat mitzvahs in new and unique ways. Custom live event painting of your dream day fulfills that brief. Your love story or celebration milestone is unique and the painting allows you to weave in many personal details of the day. Capture your special moment on canvas. Together, in our initial meeting, we can figure out how to translate your unique vision for your event into an heirloom quality piece of art. On the day, I take the emotion of the room and put it into the painting in a manner photography cannot.

Corporate retreats, seminars, or company-wide celebrations are more impactful and memorable when you have a live-event artist.

  • It is essential that we meet before the event and have a detailed consultation about specifics like mood, feel, number of recognizable figures, even the lighting is discussed etc. For example: what moment do you want captured and/or which moments do you want woven together in a unique composition? Some couples want the first dance while others would like the ceremony or even the cake cutting. Is your preference a painting with just the couple? Perhaps a crowded dance floor - this is a commissioned piece after all.

  • After you secure your date with a 20% deposit, we set a time to meet and have a consultation about 4 weeks prior to the event. As many details as possible should be laid out at this time. On the day of the event, I like to arrive 3-5 hours prior to guests entering the main ballroom or space to paint in the background and decor. I come with my easel, canvas, and paint. I capture the details of the room or if outdoors, the landscape. I can add in your cake and/or flower arrangements, tablescapes, chandeliers, etc.

I set up my easel and table near a light outlet in the main room of the event. I do not want to be in the way of any wedding activities.

Once guests arrive, I take my own photographs of the figures you want in the painting. I also try to get photos of the “key moment” you want central to the painting.

Most receptions are about 4-5 hours long and I stay for the entire party so I can keep painting while the guests watch as I capture the atmosphere. That means I am typically at the venue for 7-10 hours in total including setup and clean up.

Paintings tend to be about 75% complete at the end of the evening. After the wedding, I take the painting back to my studio for 4-6 hours touch ups as well as adding additional last details.

I will then deliver the painting within a two hour drive of my location or ship the painting for $150.

  • If I am not available for the event or if the event has already passed, you can still have a painting. Reflective paintings are event paintings created based on photos. These make amazing anniversary gifts. Paintings from photos are a great alternative! There is a 30% discount for paintings done from photos.

  • My paintings are a combination of realistic and impressionist. My goal is to first capture the couple while infusing my paintings with a subtle dream-like quality. While painting a wedding or bar/bat mitzvah, the faces of guests will be painted more loosely to bring the viewer's eye and focus back to the central people and generate a feeling of movement in the painting.

  • I use museum quality acrylic paint for live painting. If you would like the final painting done in oil, there is an additional $500 charge plus additional wait time as oil paints take up to a month to cure.

  • A majority of each painting will be done during the event and will take an additional 4 to 6 hours to finish the final touch at the studio. Additionally, clients have the choice to have a “Polished” painting done. For an additional fee, these are event paintings that I take back to my studio and carefully paint the details of the features to achieve a portrait-like resemblance of the figures. Up to 40 hours might be spent adding these details and or finishing the final paintings in oil.

You are welcome to pick up the painting at my studio in Woodstock, NY or I can deliver it within a 2 hour radius of either Woodstock or NYC. I can also ship the painting to you at an additional cost of $150. Shipping is professionally handled and fully insured by UPS.

Mollie, people were raving about you all night. Everyone loved your work and weeks later I’m still getting texts about how amazing it is.

R. Malhotra Phillips

What I love most about our painting is that it’s so much more than just a couple’s portrait. It immortalizes and celebrates the most important event of our lives in a way pictures cannot.

M. Roth

Thank you so much for the GORGEOUS painting! It makes me so happy every time I look at it. Jesse and I will treasure it forever!

S. Trachtenberg Meller

When planning our wedding, we dreamed of creating an experience that would not only celebrate our love but also honor the cherished family and friends who have supported us along the way. Our vision was brought to life thanks to the extraordinary talent of Mollie Fox, painting our guests' portraits live during the celebration.

Mollie was extremely easy to work with and provided insights and recommendations leading up to the day to help bring our vision to life. Throughout the evening, guests were drawn to Mollie's table, eagerly watching as their portraits emerged before their eyes. In fact, Mollie’s paintings were so popular, we asked her to complete a portrait for every guest that wanted one, which ended up being many more than originally planned. Mollie was very accommodating and handled our extensive request with grace. Mollie kept in touch after the wedding, and we received all additional portraits in a timely manner. It has been amazing seeing her work from our wedding hanging in our friends and families’ homes when we visit.

Throughout the entire process, she went above and beyond to ensure that our experience was nothing short of magical. If you're looking for a way to elevate your wedding day from special to extraordinary, look no further than Mollie. Her talent, passion, and commitment to creating moments of pure magic are unmatched, and we feel blessed to have had her as part of our celebration.

Thank you for everything!”
